In the context of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the Cuban Music Recording Company (EGREM for its Spanish acronym), Holguín Music House hosted the official launching of the CD “Déjame soñar”, by singer-songwriter Norberto Leyva, with which he pays tribute to local composers such as Faustino Oramas “El Guayabero”, Ramiro Gutiérrez, Tony Pérez, Camilo de la Peña, Manuel Leandro, Alito Abad, Raúl Prieto and Fernando Cabreja.
In this compilation, with which this Holguín musician has wanted to pay back the great singers for their teachings and contributions to Cuban culture, there are 10 songs, in addition to the title track, written by Norberto Leyva himself.
“Although this dream dates back to many years ago, the phonogram was recorded in a very difficult period -recalled Norberto-, when the world was facing the COVID-19 pandemic; this was possible thanks to the collaboration between EGREM’s Caonao Studios in Camagüey and Botija Records, from Holguín”.
Homage to Holguin composers in CD “Déjame soñar”
“This CD summarizes the rich musical history of our province. They are diverse works, as diverse are their authors, motivations and times”, according to Carlos Lam, director of the EGREM in Holguin, in charge of the presentation.
Each piece acquires a different sonority, not only because of the new arrangements and the variety of genres it includes, such as ballad, son, bolero, cumbia and guaracha, but also because of Norberto Leyva’s very peculiar voice and style.
The musical direction was in charge of Javier Pérez Rey and the production is by Samuel Pérez Santiesteban, to whom the author expressed his gratitude, because a good idea is not enough, “you cannot get a product of excellent workmanship like this one if the technical part does not work”.
Tribute to Holguin composers in CD “Déjame soñar”
After the presentation of the CD “Déjame soñar”, Norberto Leyva offered a concert in which he reviewed the songs of the album, while announcing his new phonographic project, which he has called “Como las luces de las avenidas”, still without commitments with record companies.
