Holguin: Medical offices in vulnerable neighborhoods restored

The Health system in Holguin province is repairing medical offices in vulnerable neighborhoods in several municipalities of this northeastern territory, as part of the strategy to improve services to the population.

Among these towns are Báguanos, Cacocum, “Calixto García”, Banes and Moa, which have in their geography rural areas or areas of difficult access and where health coverage is guaranteed free of charge, Yuritza Almaguer, an official of the sector’s general directorate, told ACN.

She pointed out that the work objects include painting, replacement of electric and sanitary networks, changes in furniture, carpentry and perimeter fences to provide greater comfort to the facilities.

It also includes some polyclinics with hospitalization services, which provide care in distant localities and dental clinics as a complement to government programs and to the resolution of people’s problems, she explained.

In these neighborhoods, health promotion activities are also carried out, whose priority is to promote community hygiene and have an impact on the diagnosis and control of epidemics or chronic non-communicable diseases.

Likewise, Holguín has undertaken more than 200 maintenance actions distributed in provincial hospitals, stomatological clinics, grandparents’ homes, old people’s homes, hygiene and epidemiology centers, among others.

The territory has identified 145 vulnerable settlements due to the geographical position or living conditions of the population, where a comprehensive program is implemented for the benefit of the community, with the participation of sectors such as Water Resources, Education, Transportation, Culture and Commerce.
