EGREM in Holguin announces events for its 60th Anniversary

The Cuban Music Recording Company (EGREM) in Holguín presented in a press conference press conference a wide program of events to celebrate the 60th anniversary of its founding, to be celebrated next March 31.

Carlos Lam Mora, director of the EGREM in the province, explained that the activities will cover the whole of 2024, with emphasis on the promotion of the local discography licensed by its Company -18 CDs in all-, as well as the materialization of new phonograms, among the new ones, including “Geometricanto”, by children’s singer-songwriter Edelis Loyola; “Boleros y flores”, with pieces by Holguin composers interpreted by women and, as a tribute to Artistic Education, a plaque dedicated to the Guitar Orchestra of Holguin.

Lam Mora added that EGREM also foresees special presentations of artists from its catalog in such emblematic facilities as Casa de Música de Holguín, Álbum Café El Chorrito, Bariay Cultural Center and Casa de la Música de Velasco.

Likewise, the record company will increase in this stage its presence in the mass media such as local radio and television, as ways to promote its work, as well as in the rich schedule of cultural events of Holguín province, among which stand out Romerías de Mayo, Music Festival “Arañando la Nostalgia” and Festival del Son in Mayarí.

Recently, the EGREM in Holguín created working agreements with new forms of non-State management, in order to provide its facilities with gastronomic services and generate income to create, on an experimental basis, a development and promotion account to channel new musical productions, said its director.

In Holguín, EGREM has immortalized the work of Taínos de Mayarí Orchestra, Faustino Oramas “El Guayabero”, the female vocal quintet Harmony, Lucrecia Marín, Martha de la Paz, Alfredo Morales “Chiquitín” and, in recent years, Fernando Cabreja, Norberto Leyva, Raúl Prieto y su Son, Raúl D. Prieto.

EGREM is Cuba’s oldest and most important recording label, founded in 1964 to record the island’s heritage, identity and musical renovation, an invaluable contribution to national culture by the hand of several generations of performers and creators who have bet on its network of recording studios and cultural centers.
