University of Holguin graduates new professionals

About 1,900 professionals will join the different sectors of Cuban society, as a result of the graduation of the University of Holguin (UHO) held today as the culmination of the 2022-2023 school year.

The graduates received the certificate that accredits them as professionals, at the Eddy Suñol Theater, from the hands of parents, professors and directors of the house of higher studies.

More than 90 students also received the Suma Cum Laude Degree, endorsed by their outstanding trajectory, scientific contributions and an academic index equal to or higher than 4.75 points.

University of Holguín graduates new professionals

On this occasion, the best graduates were Diannelis Ibarra Almaguer, Industrial Engineering and Miguel Angel Gonzalez Infante, Tourism.

Ibarra Almaguer, on behalf of the graduates, recalled the obstacles overcome while studying a career during confinement, while thanking professors, classmates and parents for their patience and commitment and stressed that true success lies in determination.

During the meeting, dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the founding of the UHO, more than 50 Scientific Merit Awards and recognitions were also granted in various categories such as Research, Teaching, Advocacy, Sports, Impact Tasks and Student Leader.

Milagros Perez Pravia, acting rector of the UHO, in the central words of the ceremony, explained the importance of encouraging study by promoting projects that have a positive impact on the university community and urged the new graduates and engineers to contribute to the development of the country and continue adapting to the needs of an evolving society.

The emotional meeting was also attended by Ernesto Santiesteban Velázquez, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and first secretary in the province and Manuel Hernández Aguilera, governor of Holguín.

The University of Holguin, founded in 1968, has graduated more than 50 thousand students after several years dedicated to scientific academic excellence and the integral formation of Cuban professionals.
