The province of Holguín received 18 professionals from Cuban Radio who make up the jury of the National Festival of this media outlet based in this eastern territory from November 13 to 17.
The artists were received at Villa Mirador de Mayabe, where six working commissions will meet to evaluate the works in competition that reflect the various forms of radio production in the different stations in the country.
They were accompanied by Nelsy González Pérez, official of the Ideological Department of the Communist Party of Cuba in the province, Faustino Fonseca Pérez, Head of the Provincial Directorate of Information and Communication, Natalia Díaz Riverón, director of the Radio System in Holguín and members of its council of management and the organizing committee of the Festival.
This Festival is held after 13 years of absence, a meeting that encourages the exchange of experiences, motivations and, above all, listening to the various works that tell stories from different specialties of the radio medium.
Silda Inés Figuerola Reyes, communication specialist for the sector in Cuba, told Radio Angulo that “this contest will exceed one’s expectations because there is a desire to do something, the artists are very enthusiastic and we need that; a reason for people to express their art.”
The Festival, with special significance, is attended by 10 filmmakers recognized with the National Cuban Radio Award.
Genara Barcela Izayús, director of programs at Anti-imperialist Trinchera Radio Guantánamo, mentioned that “it is a joy to have rescued the National Festival because this event is the measure of the talent of artists and radio broadcasters.”
Among the works that will be evaluated are special themes, staged programs, musical and varied spaces; information programs, the propaganda specialty, experimental spaces and creations for the internet are added.
