Holguin to celebrate Ibero-American Culture Festival   

The XXIX edition of the Ibero-American Culture Festival will take place from October 24 to 28 in Holguin, whcih will be dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the founding of Casa de Iberoamérica (Ibero-American House).

With more than one hundred delegates from the United States, Guatemala, Chile and Spain, the event will focus on the centenary of the Cuban scientist Antonio Núñez Jiménez and, in addition, among its main activities is the 18th Congress the 18th Ibero-American Congress of Thought with around 150 papers by 200 authors.

Bárbara Martínez Pupo, president of the organizing committee, informed the press that an opening lecture will be given by Eloísa Carreras Varona, director of the Armando Hart Dávalos House Museum, as well as the presentation of two projects of the Casa de Iberoamérica, among them, the International Philately chapter and the community of people with albinism in eastern Cuba.

The extensive program announces for the opening day, at Eddy Suñol Theater, the concert by Holguín Symphonic Orchestra with Spanish singer Pilar Bolleros, and the colorful Ibero-American parade from El Quijote Park to the Casa de Iberoamérica.

Also taking place at this edition the First Meeting of Papermakers; the personal exhibition of Rafael Zarza, winner of the National Fine Arts Award ; the Virtual Exhibition of Visual Arts; the Ibero-American Colloquium of Letters and the presentation of the National Poetry Prize “Adelaida del Mármara”.

During the closing ceremony, scheduled for October 28th at the Park Bariay – National Monument-, located in the municipality of Rafael Freyre, will be called for the XXX Iberoamerican Festival, to be held in 2024.

The Ibero-American Culture Festival held for the first time in 1993, gathers annually in Holguin specialists, intellectuals and national artists.
