Cuban Culture Day Celebrated in Holguín                    

Cuban Culture Day in October 20 was celebrated at the Raul Camayd Hall of the Eddy Suñol Cultural Complex Theater in Holguin, in a show devised in commemoration of the date, in which the best of the local talent shone, directed by Víctor Osorio, and the musical direction of maestro Orestes Saavedra.

These two directors again brought to the stage a true Cuban show, which the audience enjoyed and applauded the different presentations, tinged with music by Holguín Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Orestes Saavedra, who sometimes did it from the piano.

This gala celebrated what identifies us and makes us proud as Cubans from arts, with the presentations of the applauded groups like oral narration company Palabras al Viento, Ronda de los Sueños children company and Danza Contemporánea dance group, as well as the choir Orfeón Holguín, and soloists Marien Hernández, Delvis Lozano, Nadiel Mejías and Ernesto Infante, among others that make up the prestigious the local artistic talent.

A symbiosis of cultural expressions came together in this show, which also included the performance of future talents under training at the elemental school of arts Raúl Gómez García.

This way concluded the day of celebrations that began on October 10th, at times of the remembrance of the 155th anniversary of the beginning of the Independence wars, and also the commemoration of the 105th anniversary of the iconic piece “Mujer Bayamesa”, written by Sindo Garay, and the 15th anniversary of the death of film director Humberto Solás.

It was a celebration of our roots and the historic day when the Bayamo Anthem was interpreted for the first time, a piece that has accompanied the process of formation of the cultural identity of this island until the present, and stands as Cuban National Anthem.
