Cuba: hotels operated by Meliá protect the ozone layer

A message from the Spanish hotel group Meliá, in its Cuban delegation, said Monday night that several of the facilities that operate in this archipelago are free of substances harmful to the ozone layer.

The note insisted that in reference to the celebration of the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer on September 16, several facilities managed by Meliá Hotels International Cuba were accredited as Entities Free of Ozone-Depleting Substances.

The communiqué commented that these establishments received the recognition at the national level, granted by Cuba’s Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment.

This is the case of Meliá Internacional Varadero, Meliá Varadero and Meliá Las Américas hotels; likewise, Citma’s territorial delegations awarded Meliá Buenavista, Meliá Cayo Santa María and Sol Cayo Santa María.

These new certifications are in addition to those already held by Paradisus Los Cayos, Meliá Las Dunas, Sol Río de Luna y Mares from Holguín, and Sol Varadero Beach.

Thus, the hotels managed by the Iberian chain guarantee that their processes do not include substances that may affect the ozone layer, which is an important step in the corporate strategy for the protection of the environment.

On the other hand, they stressed, Meliá offers guests a product committed to caring for the planet, which they support and greatly appreciate.

Meliá Hotels International Cuba thus ratified its willingness to continue working together with experts and authorities in order to optimize its environmental footprint and contribute to the preservation of a safe and healthy environment, the note concludes.
