Cayo Saetía: a tourist haven in Holguín

Cayo Saetía is a perfect scenario for relaxation and nature tourism in the province of Holguín, which is today a point of visit for tour operators attending the Megafam 2023 for the 45th anniversary of Havanatur.

This area of the Cuban geography has the attention this Tuesday of the 400 tour operators from several nations, joined by journalists specialized in tourism, to celebrate more than four decades of existence of the International Group of Tour Operators and Travel Agencies Havanatur SA.

Therefore, Cayo Saetía is an ideal place to visit, when eastern Cuba is full of color and possibilities for those who spend their vacations in an active way. This affirmation is corroborated by many people who have already visited places that leave a mark on visitors, through photos, but especially in their memories.

One of those places that practically shocks Europeans, many Spaniards included, is Cayo Saetía, which is reached preferably by sea, in a two-hour trip that allows a visual enjoyment of the Ramón Peninsula.

Cayo Saetía is an island of 42 square kilometers, with beautiful scenery in the municipality of Mayarí.

It is located 120 kilometers southeast of Holguin, between Nipe Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, but its beaches and the variety of vegetation create the delights of the most demanding tourists.

The land is connected by an animal control bridge, but that would be quite a long trip, it is better to navigate.

Under the auspices of the Gaviota Tourism Group, this wonderful place can be visited in search of pristine beaches, and the possibility of accessing a jeep or truck tour that allows you to observe the wildlife of the place, many deer, buffalo and even some ostriches.

In addition, the food is excellent in a beach ranchón that welcomes those who spend a day in the place, enjoying nature.

The plans of the Cuban Ministry of Tourism (Mintur) have 19 thousand rooms for the near future in the Ramon Peninsula, the landscape that accompanies the trip to that key.

The guides remind that the key is located in the north-eastern part of the municipality of Mayari, in the aforementioned province of Holguin and covers in its 42 square kilometers five forest formations.

They mention 14 species such as zebras, dromedaries, deer, antelopes, buffaloes, which adapted perfectly to the environment.

Many of them came from India and Africa to allow in this natural park tours by appropriate vehicles and the enjoyment of this panorama by tourists.

For this purpose, there is already a four-star villa with 12 rooms in a secluded spot, but which facilitates these trips and tours, as well as hiking, or the practice of other modalities such as diving and snorkeling, since there is plenty of water and beautiful seabed.

The directors of the Gaviota Group, which manages both the village and the excursions and possibilities of the key, say that tourists have offers of safari through the prairies of the place, horseback riding, boat rides and very traditional and exotic gastronomic proposals.

The center is Playa del Cristo Beach, where there is a beach ranch and where you can get there by catamaran, sometimes – depending on the tide – forcing you to get wet up to your waist to disembark, which gives a touch of distinction to the trip, now perfect for those attending Havanatur’s Megafam.
