At the gates of Iberoarte craft fair

The Iberoarte International Crafts Fair, organized by the Cuban Fund for Cultural Goods (FCBC), will open its doors in the city of Holguin on October 5th, with a wide range of utilitarian and artistic proposals from national and foreign creators.

Lisset Sera, communications specialist of the provincial branch of the FCBC, explained that the event, dedicated to Mexican handicrafts, will bring together more than 100 exhibitors, including more than 60 foreigners who will be linked to the different areas of the Iberoarte program: business rounds, fashion shows, art exhibitions and concerts.

Among the handicrafts, goldsmithery, furniture, footwear, textile confections, dolls, household items and ornamental plants stand out in a space where national handicrafts will also be present with representatives from the provinces of Holguin, Guantanamo and Havana.

Unlike previous editions, in 2023, the fair will only be held at the ExpoHolguin Fair, Events and Exhibition Center, and the sales areas will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

As an attraction, Iberoarte rescues the visual arts project “Lote” that distinguishes the event since its creation in 2001, to offer the most representative of Holguin’s Fine Arts in significant exhibitions that will take place in the galleries “Fausto Cristo” of the Provincial Committee of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, “El Zaguán” of the FCBC and the lobby of the emblematic Hotel Pernik.

Iberoarte, the most important Cuban handicrafts fair after FIART (Havana), has a competitive character, so at the closing, on October 22, the best products by expressions, the best stand, fashion show and the most comprehensive model will be awarded.

Every year, the Fair brings together companies and cultural institutions such as EGREM, Artex, the Provincial Book and Literature Center and the media in an effort to ensure the success of an event that is a bastion of the handicraft tradition and applied arts.
