A (7-1) win in the bye match off the team of Héctor Molina sugar mill, the squad of Colosos of Urbano Noris left San Nicolas de Bari town with three straight wins, and got closer to the crown of the XLI season of the Sugar Baseball League.
The five runs scored in the third inning, in which they produced five hits, were enough to secure the victory that places them at the gates of their first title in this League.
Dachel Duquesne, the reinforcement from Ciego deAvila, made a great job, with a clean sweep in seven innings, complemented by an offense of 11 hits, where Guantanamo reinforcement Leonelkis Escalante stood out with a double and triple in five innings and two hits, Laindel Leiva, 5-2 with two hits, and Yulián Concepción, 5-2 with two runs batted in for the win.
The Mayabeque team made six hits and scored their only run in the fourth inning when they managed to produce two hits.
The setback went to starter Jose Andres Cordova in a game where each team failed twice on defense.
The Colosos, with 24 wins and 3 defeats in the campaign, will bet again on their main pitcher Carlos Alberto Santiesteban (7-2) to complete the sweep next Friday 17th at their Rogelio Pupo Ricardo stadium in San German and lift their crown there.
If they fail to do so on Friday, starting at 1:00 p.m., the locals will have three more opportunities to achieve the desired victory on Saturday 18, Sunday 19 and Monday 20.
If the Colosos de Urbano Noris win the title, as we all hope, it would be the fourth time that a team from the province of Holguin has achieved it, after Fernando de Dios (1989) and twice Cristino Naranjo (2015 and 2018).
