This Tuesday, August 15, the Cuban Post Office in Holguin held a fair offering different office automation products under the modality of online payment through QR codes, in front of the ServiPostal unit located in the main city’s Calixto Garcia Park.
Leydis Ramírez Saavedra, commercial director of the company, commented that this is the first fair to be held using QR codes and online sales, which is part of the strategy developed by the entity within the digital transformation process in which they are immersed.
The fair offers different supplies for the next school year, such as book covers, markers, pens, books for the little ones at home, among other accessories.
Some of the customers commented on the advantage offered by this type of sales, “…although it constitutes the modernization of commercial processes, cash payments should not be excluded since not all people use online payment platforms, or know how to handle them, or simply use or have money in magnetic cards”.
Service to be extended to other municipalities in Holguín
Yoandris Zaldívar Caballero, director of Empresa de Correos de Holguín, said: “this fair is a test that aims to stimulate sales through QR codes and gradually extend it to other municipalities, likewise we started with the extra cash service which has also been expanding to different units in the province”.
The manager indicated that this does not mean that cash sales will be eliminated: “in the distribution of the merchandise that we are able to acquire we have an independent distribution to offer through QR codes, but this same merchandise will be displayed in the rest of the municipalities which can be acquired with cash”.
The electronic payment through QR codes is one of the most advanced forms of electronic payment since it does not involve the magnetic card, but the customer makes the payment from his cell phone using any of the existing payment platforms in the country, Transfermóvil or Enzona.
