Dr. Ibarra explained that her esophagus was very traumatized, but not perforated, for which reason, under endoscopic vision, a nasogastric tube was placed so that she could eat until she finally gets well.

Regarding this event and other similar ones that have been treated at the Pediatric Hospital, the specialist emphasized that “the best advice to the children’s families is to raise prevention to avoid these cases, which in most cases have a happy outcome, but the patient may become complicated”.

“It is necessary to be careful about children’s environment, by keeping out the reach of children any object that could, by accident, be swallowed, and besides objects in the mouth, attention must be paid if they are in the nose or ear, which are the most frequent incidents we deal with”, said Dr. Alberto Ibarra Batista.
