UHo Strengthens Academic Ties in Belgium through Research and Innovation Projects

The University of Holguin (UHo) continues to consolidate its international reach and integration. Through an intensive work agenda carried out this week in Belgium.

The initiative is part of the Institutional University Cooperation (IUC) project. Which focuses on driving applied research and technological innovation through the engineering of smart service solutions.

Moreover the Cuban delegation was led by the Rector of the Holguin university, Dr. Aniuska Ortiz Pérez. Accompanied by the project coordinator, Dr. Jenny Ruiz de la Peña, and the project manager, Dr. Yander Martínez Gandol.

The delegation also included the five leaders of the institutional sub-projects: Dr. Gabriel Hernández Ramírez, Specialist Nelvis Almaguer Pérez. Dr. Neysi León Pupo, Dr. Dagoberto Mariño Blanco, and Dr. Roberto Pérez Rodríguez.

One of the most significant achievements of this academic mission was a meeting. With officials and academics from the prestigious KU Leuven University.

At this Belgian institution, a bilateral agreement was formalized to implement joint doctoral programs. An academic model that will contribute significantly to enhancing the scientific training and professional profiles of the participating faculty and researchers.

During the visit, the Holguin delegation also held a productive exchange with the Research Office of KU Leuven University.

Program coordinators Dr. Monique Snoeck and Dr. Jenny Ruiz presented the project’s strategic objectives and scope to Ms. Marian Schoenmaekers. A representative of the Belgian institution. This dialogue highlighted the scientific and innovative potential of the University of Holguin. While also exploring new opportunities for cooperation and multidisciplinary partnerships to foster local and regional development.

Through these initiatives, the University of Holguin reaffirms its commitment to excellence in Cuban higher education. Prioritizing the internationalization of science and high-level academic training.
