Gibarez outfielder Yasiel González went 1-for-4 on Wednesday in the Xiamen Dolphins’ 3-1 loss to the Beijing Loongs. Their second consecutive defeat in the Chinese Baseball League.
González’s batting average dropped to .292, with seven hits in 24 at-bats across seven games. Driving in only one run and failing to record any extra-base hits.
His teammate, José Amaury Noroña from Matanzas, went 0-for-4 and is now batting .227.
The victory for the team managed by Holguin native Noelvis González went to Nicaraguan left-hander Carlos Téller (1-0). Also who struck out five batters and allowed five hits, surrendering the Dolphins’ only run.
His performance was supported by three relievers, including Yankiel Mauris from Sancti Spiritus. He earned the save with a scoreless inning of work and one strikeout.
