Holguin native outfielder Yasiel González went 2-for-3 in the undefeated Xiamen Dolphins’ 3-1 victory. Over the Shanghai Orcas in the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
González, this time as the designated hitter and cleanup hitter. Also drew a walk and raised his batting average to .250. With four hits in 16 at-bats, along with a run scored and an RBI.
His teammate, Matanzas native José Amaury Noroña, went 1-for-2 with a walk and a run scored, bringing his average to .214.
The Xiamen Dolphins remain undefeated and in first place after five games. Following them is the Beijing Loongs (1-1), managed by fellow Holguin native Noelvis González.
Also the Chinese Professional Baseball League has six teams in its summer season. At the end of the qualifying round, four will advance to the postseason, which begins on September 21st.
