The Escaramujo Municipal Festival, organized by the José Martí Brigade of Art Instructors in celebration of Fidel Castro’s centennial. It took place in Holguin as a space to promote artistic and community creation. Also bringing together children, young people, and specialists in various cultural expressions.
Also the day began in the morning at the Martí Cinema with an exhibition of student works in the visual arts section. In the afternoon, the Provincial Center for Visual Arts hosted the community sociocultural projects “Little Artists,” directed by Yailén Almaguer Tabera. From the Dalquis Sánchez Elementary School, and “Magic of Dreams,” led by Maylen Alfonso García from the María Antonia Bolmey Elementary School.
The jury was composed of Narcy Estrada Rivero, head of the cultural development program at the Provincial Center of the House of Culture. Elisbet Betancourt Macle, activities specialist at the El Alba Academy of Visual Arts. And María Emilia Marín Montero, methodologist of Artistic Education and specialist in Research and Professional Development.
Furthermore the corridor of the Alex Urquiola Provincial Library was the stage for music and dance. Ten artistic groups participated in the music competition. Five of which were selected for the provincial event. Their performances were evaluated by Armando Aguilera Parra, assistant artistic and pedagogical director of the José María Ochoa Professional Music School. Diosdado Iván Figueroa Silvente, methodologist and inspector of the Provincial Center of Houses of Culture. And Yanco León Arias, troubadour and member of the AHS (Hermanos Saíz Association).
Six dance groups performed, with one selected for the provincial competition. Their performances were evaluated by Roberto Fernández Rondón and Jordani Sánchez González. A dance methodologists from the Provincial Center of Houses of Culture. Along with Ernesto Benítez Suárez, director of the “La Campana” dance company.
The Festival unfolded in an atmosphere of jubilation and celebration. Where the audience enthusiastically embraced each performance and the artists energetically shared their talent. The diverse offerings transformed the day into a true cultural festival. Reaffirming the role of art as a driving force for identity and community.
