The Mariel Special Development Zone (ZED Mariel) stood out this Wednesday among businesspeople from various countries attending the 41st Havana International Fair (FIHAV 2025).
The digital newspaper Cubadebate echoed this appeal and cited details that provide insight into this commercial space. They noted that during the 8th Investment Forum, the director of the Mariel Special Development Zone (ZED Mariel), Ana Teresa Igarza Martínez, presented a detailed overview of the development. Also with the unique opportunities this location offers to national and international investors.
Igarza Martínez emphasized that ZED Mariel is consolidating its position as the center of the country’s industrial and commercial development. Thanks to its cutting-edge infrastructure, attractive incentives, and focus on sustainability. The director explained the working model, which is based on direct attention to investors.
Moreover she said that, supported by a One-Stop Shop System that offers personalized attention and tailored solutions for each business owner. They strive daily to ensure that objectives converge. She highlighted the area’s appeal, citing its high-quality infrastructure and the provision of stable, customized services for each company.
Regarding this year’s progress, the director explained that work has continued on the development of Sector A. So where all basic services are now guaranteed for the establishment of new businesses.
Futhermore she emphasized that this is a unique opportunity nationwide. Allowing companies to begin their investments with immediate requirements met. While also maintaining stability in their production and service processes without interruptions due to infrastructure limitations.
Also she announced a flagship project: a glass container production plant for the food industry, slated for completion next year. The plant will eliminate a costly import, such as empty bottles. And facilitate the export of high-quality products like Cuban rum and beer.
Regarding investment opportunities, Igarza Martínez specified that the Zone’s portfolio comprises 35 businesses. Primarily linked to industry, food production, and industry in general. She also mentioned projects planned for the development of pharmaceutical production, transportation and logistics, and real estate development.
Finally, the director highlighted the value of the Zone’s highly specialized human capital in each sector and area.
