Iberoarte 2025 International Handicraft Fair Open to the Public

The 23rd edition of the Iberoarte Handicraft Fair was inaugurated at the ExpoHolguin Fairgrounds. An event held annually as part of Cuban Culture Day.

At the opening gala, in the presence of Joel Queipo Ruíz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguin. Manuel Hernández Aguilera, Governor of the province. Yaquelín Tapia Aguilera, Provincial Director of Culture. And other authorities and executives in the region, textile designers Elena Pozo, Julia Borrego, Maurice Fonseca, and María del Carmen Aguilera. They are recognized as key figures in local cultural development, were honored.

At the opening, the president of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) in Holguin, Eliel Gómez. He highlighted the importance of maintaining these spaces. Despite the difficulties, in order to showcase and support the work of Cuban artists.

ExpoHolguin, a space that has established itself as a meeting place for artisans, is open to the public from this Friday, October 17th, to November 1st. From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., for a price of 100 CUP, and free for pregnant women.

On this occasion, the venue hosts 14 foreign exhibitors from countries such as Peru and Mexico. Also 50 national exhibitors representing the provinces of Santiago de Cuba, Las Tunas, Havana, and the host city of Holguin.

They are especially dedicated to the fashion aspect of crafts. Ofering a wide range of crafts. Including textiles, jewelry and other styles, in addition to cultural offerings.

Part of the proceeds and donations raised at Iberoarte 2025 will be donated to vulnerable communities. Also nursing homes, and homes for children without family support. A move that demonstrates the event’s social commitment.

This edition, sponsored by the Cuban Fund for Cultural Assets, pays tribute to the careers of Julia Borrego, Maurice Fonseca. María del Carmen Aguilera, Elena Pozo, Jorge Luis Betancourt, Lauro Echavarría, and Julio Méndez.
