Díaz-Canel Recognizes Work of Electrical Workers

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic. Today recognized the workers and staff of the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem) and the Electricity Union. For their record in the recovery of the National Electric System (SEN).

The president highlighted on social media X their heroic daily confrontation with the challenges of aging plants battered. By the energy and financial persecution of the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed on Cuba by the United States government.

Díaz-Canel shared a message issued this afternoon on the same social media by the Ministry of Energy and Mines (Minem). In which the agency announced the restoration of the SEN. Which was completely disconnected at 9:14 a.m. this Wednesday. Following an unexpected shutdown at the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Plant in Matanzas.

“To the cadres and workers of @EnergiaMinasCub and @OSDE_UNE, our recognition for their record in restoring the SEN. For their heroic daily confrontation with the challenges of aging plants battered by the energy and financial persecution of the #Blockade.”

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero also applauded the performance of the Ministry of Energy and the Electricity Union workers on his X account. Who achieved the feat of restoring the SEN in about 28 hours, he noted.

The Prime Minister clarified that the situation remains complex. But the program to recover the sector continues.

At 1:24 p.m. this Thursday, the Ministry of Energy reported on X that all of the country’s provinces were now connected to the National Electric System. Therefore the system was restored.

Today, at 6:00 a.m., 1,000 megawatts were being generated in Cuba. The latest provinces to join the SEN were Pinar del Rio, Artemisa, Granma, Santiago de Cuba, and Guantanamo.
