Cuba Ready for the Start of the 2025-2026 School Year

This Monday, September 1st, more than 1,530,000 Cuban students from different levels of general education will begin the 2025-2026 school year. Despite the complex economic situation on the island.

According to Naima Trujillo Barreto, Minister of Education, the 2025-2026 school year will be characterized by the implementation of the third improvement program. Which simplifies the curricular transformation for students in third, sixth, ninth, and twelfth grades through teaching tools and other educational materials that will arrive between September and October.

Considering the current situation of Cuban families, the Ministry of Education has identified approximately 57,600 children who will receive special attention in terms of food and supplies.

Although in limited quantities, basic methodological, technical, and logistical guarantees are available, such as notebooks, pencils, and other supplies.

Faced with a total demand of more than 3.6 million uniforms, the industry was only able to finance and produce 2.2 million. However, production will continue in September and October to complete approximately 800,000 more garments.

An important element in this phase will be the official publication of the Code of Children, Adolescents, and Youth on January 28th. Which will govern the development of students in society.

The 2025-2026 school year will be dedicated to the centennial of the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
