The “Raúl Gómez García” Elementary School of Art in Holguin is getting ready for the new school year on September 1st. Following a significant maintenance and repair process aimed at improving the quality and conditions of the artistic and learning processes.

Regarding the preparation for the start of the school year, Hirio Vera Martínez, the school’s director, stated: “We have made a comprehensive effort to ensure that our infrastructure is up to the artistic excellence that characterizes our students and teachers.”

As part of these actions, the director also mentioned the replacement of carpentry, paint, electrical work, doors, and locks. The repair of two bathrooms; and the improvement of the construction conditions of classrooms, dormitories, workshops, and floorboards. Not only at this school but also at other institutions that comprise the Arts Education program in the region.

When referring to work priorities, Vera highlighted the strengthening of political and ideological work as one of the main axes that will guide the training of young artists. Ensuring that the center not only trains technically, but also instills the fundamental values of society.

A fundamental pillar for the fulfillment of these objectives lies in the solidity of its teaching staff. The institution will have a team of teachers with recognized experience and Prestige. To bring to the classroom not only pedagogical mastery, but also sensitivity and practical knowledge of stages and galleries.

In this course, several outstanding graduates from the school itself will also be incorporated into the teaching process, who, after training in centers of higher education, return to support the training of new generations, creating a valuable feedback cycle.

In parallel with academic preparation, the material base of study, life and food is guaranteed, essential for the development of the educational process, which requires maximum concentration and commitment from students.

With an enrollment of 272 students who will bring life to its classrooms and workshops, the Raúl Gómez García Elementary School of Art begins this new school year not only with renovated infrastructure, but also with a commitment to shaping the future of Cuban culture.
