Vietnam Determined to Deepen Special Friendship with Cuba

The determination of the Vietnamese Communist Party (CPV), the State, and the National Assembly to deepen their traditional solidarity and special friendship with Cuba was echoed this Thursday in Hanoi by media outlets and online portals.

This intention was expressed by the Speaker of the Vietnamese Parliament, Tran Thanh Man, during a meeting with his Cuban counterpart, Esteban Lazo. In which he also expressed his satisfaction with the solid development of trust and rapprochement between the two countries in recent times.

Thanh Man emphasized that the close cooperation between the two National Assemblies had a special impact on this and suggested that both sides increase the exchange of delegations and contacts at all levels, especially at high levels.

He also proposed maintaining and periodically improving the effectiveness of collaboration mechanisms to exchange information and experiences in each of their areas of strength. Making cooperation between the two National Assemblies an important channel in the bilateral relationship.

The President of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo, expressed similar sentiments. Thanking the Communist Party of Vietnam (CVP), the State, and the National Assembly of Vietnam for their valuable support and assistance.

According to the Vietnamese Legislative website, Lazo highlighted the consolidation and continued strengthening of the traditional solidarity and special friendship between the two countries and affirmed that Cuba is always interested in promoting bilateral economic relations.

Both leaders agreed to closely coordinate and implement various measures to continue consolidating and strengthening their ties. As well as to carry out various activities in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

The meeting between Thanh Man and Lazo took place the day before. In the context of the 6th World Conference of Speakers of Parliament in Geneva.

There, the leader of the Vietnamese National Assembly also spoke with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China, Zhao Leji, and with the Speaker of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matviyenko.

He also met with the Speaker of the Japanese House of Representatives, Fukushiro Nukaga. The Speaker of the Singapore Parliament, Seah Kian Peng. The Speaker of the Azerbaijani Legislature, Sahiba Gafarova; and the President of the Austrian Federal Council, Peter Samt, among others.

Thanh Man delivered a speech during the conference’s general debate, in which he highlighted the responsibility that parliaments have today to lead the promotion of multilateralism and contribute to ensuring peace, justice, and prosperity for all.

The visit to Switzerland concluded the tour Thanh Man began on July 22nd, which had previously included official visits to Morocco and Senegal.
