Holguin Celebrates Transportation Workers’ Day

The provincial event for Transportation and Ports Workers’ Day —which is celebrated every June 28th in Cuba— took place this Friday in Holguin at the Frank País García International Airport, where representatives from all the Basic Business Units (UEB) in this sector in the province participated.

During the meeting, outstanding workers were honored with the José María Pérez Capote medal, an award given by the National Union of Transportation and Ports (SNTTP) to those who have remained in the trade for more than twenty uninterrupted years. The UEB Cuba Catering was also recognized with the status of National Outstanding Collective for its commitment and comprehensive results.

For his part, René Rodríguez Morales, Transportation delegate in the province, conveyed congratulations to all his colleagues on behalf of the ministry.

This date was selected at the First Congress of the National Union of the sector, which was attended by the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro Ruz, 52 years ago.

Last year was extremely complex for the provision of transportation services in Holguin, impacted by the low availability of fuel and the deterioration of the CDT (Coefficient of Availability) both for passenger transportation and for cargo.

This situation behaves similarly in 2025, although there is an aspiration to increase transportation means through different avenues even amid the complex limitations under which the sector operates.
