During his visit to Gibara, Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, stressed on the need for a proper approach to vulnerabilities and to work in unity to solve the problems.
“There are many problems, but unity cannot be lacking. We can solve them if we act side by side”, said the member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Cuba and Prime Minister, Manuel Marreo Cruz, in one of the moments of the conversation he held with residents of the rural neighborhood of Cayo Palma.
On that occasion he also stated: “We are mixing big problems with others that are the result of bureaucracy. poor work has to be blown to pieces”.
The reaction of the Head of Government was motivated by the interventions of the locals after complaining, among other things, of long and anxious procedures, a situation that affects the people and the community.
In this atmosphere of frankness, Arnoldo Palmero, president of the José Mendoza credit and services cooperative, presented the case of a young man who wishes to obtain in usufruct a portion of land to promote the production of milk and beef, but has not been able to do so, which is unacceptable because in this community there is a need to increase the availability of food.
According to Bismark Cruz, delegate of the district to which this neighborhood belongs to, in which there are 15 socially assisted persons, the solution for another nine neighbors who require this condition has been delayed.
On this point, Marrero raised the need to give an adequate approach to the vulnerable, among whom there may be retired people whose pensions are not enough and who have relatives, but who have no real possibilities to help them, which will require a thorough analysis of each case.
A problem as sensitive as the poor quality of the bread, also present in the settlement known as Cayo Muñoz, made Marrero Cruz go directly from there to Uñas bakery to analyze the causes of the complaints. Although those responsible for making the bread said that they had been working for days with deficient raw material, they were required to be more careful, and were given instructions to better organize the distribution, with priority for the most distant places, in order not to deteriorate the product during transportation.
The statement of a mother from Cayo Muñoz about her decision to interrupt the studies of her two sons, because she does not have the resources to buy them some things, was answered by Marrero with assertions that everything possible will be done to help her, and at the same time he recalled the option of giving scholarships to the boys.
Reflecting on this case, he clarified that it is always better to opt for the education of children, to ensure their future.
Likewise, he asserted that only in a Revolution such as ours is a process of accountability of the delegates of the People’s Power to their electors called for, in the midst of the difficulties the country is going through.
After listening to a group of unresolved accumulated problems, the Prime Minister instructed the authorities of the municipality to organize a meeting between the inhabitants of the settlement and the main directors of the territory to analyze, in detail, the situations raised, determine the possible actions, and make clearly known what has no solution, a visit that should take place before the delegate’s accountability assembly, scheduled for the coming days.
As he did in these two settlements of the area Velasco, in the town of El Uso (in Velasco too), the Head of Government insisted that these meetings are necessary to fight bureaucracy and subjectivities.
Here, among other details, he learned from Arelis Sánchez Zaldívar, president of the CCS Felipe Gutiérrez, about the difficulties to pay the producers due to the lack of cash in the bank branch, which is one of the reasons why some of them risk selling part of their crops on their own account.
Even so, he confirmed the will to continue producing, because he is certain that everything possible will be done to solve the problems, which are also affected by the restrictions of the U.S. blockade and the lack of interest of some people in the work.
The day was extended to the community of Asiento de Calderón, in Velasco. Clearly, as happened in the other sites, Marrero said that bankarization has encountered resistance from some sectors, as evidenced by the accumulation of large sums of money by individuals and private economic actors that do not reach the banks.
One way for bankarization to move forward, he said, is to add more services and activities.
In all the meetings, the Prime Minister and deputy to the National Assembly of People’s Power for the municipality of Gibara, thanked the participants for the frankness and depth of the statements made, which, in his opinion, is a sign of respect for the Revolution.
Yoel Queipo Ruiz, first secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party in Holguin, and Manuel Hernandez Aguilera, governor of the province, as well as the main political and government authorities of the municipality were present at the exchanges.
