With the arrival of summer, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma) in Holguin province is developing some educational activities as part of sound recreation.
In municipalities such as Gibara and Moa, solid waste collection, raw material recovery days, talks and conferences aimed at promoting the protection of endemic species of flora and fauna and to safeguard the native species of the environment.
In addition, through institutions such as the Carlos de la Torre y Huerta Museum of Natural Sciences and the city’s Botanical Garden, young people with the help of guided tours and thru interest circles take part in other attractive proposals for people of all ages.
These programs also involve the organizations of the eastern territory, which produce and publish digital newsletters, book presentations and contests for children, said Leonardo Nieves Cruz, coordinator of this network.
He said that together with cultural, educational and health centers, distributed in the 14 municipalities of this eastern territory, out-door events are also held to provide vocational events aimed at contributing to the formation of values.
Citma in Holguín also promotes the preservation of the coastal zone and the prioritized ecosystems, as well as the development of the Cuban state’s plan to confront climate change and the government’s model based on science and innovation.
