Diaz-Canel at Annual Report Meeting of Foreign Trade Ministry

Cuba’s Foreign Trade and Investment Ministry held on Tuesday in Havana its annual report meeting about its performance last year and projections for in 2024 in the presence of President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez.

Despite the US economic blockade and the blacklisting of Cuba by Washington as an alleged state sponsor of terrorism, the island keeps open to the world and to new foreign investment which favor the diversification and expansion of export markets, access to new technologies and the effective replacement of costly imports with local production.

Cuban Economy Minister Ricardo Cabrisas presented the report by expressing dissatisfaction with the results and efforts made last year, and by stressing the need to follow the National Economic and Social Program.

The report allows to assess the performance of foreign trade and investment in the first quarter of this year, particularly the inefficiencies and unsolved problems, for which actions have already been considered.
