Holguín for accreditation of high-tech companies

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma) in the province of Holguin, implements a program for the accreditation of high-tech companies, within the priorities aimed at promoting economic development in the country.

Yordanka Maite Hernández, deputy delegate of the sector, told ACN that in the eastern territory there are several entities with the potential to reach this category, among them the Center for Development and Research of Nickel Captain Alberto Fernández Montes de Oca (Cediniq).

In order to achieve this objective, a strategy has been outlined for the period 2025-2030 that includes the incentive of doctoral training, the evaluation of the prospects that generate exports and apply the results of the research on a local scale, he said.

​Likewise, training actions are carried out, improvement professional of human capital, exploration of the quality of exportable items that contribute to economic and social growth, as part of the policies prioritized by Citma, the directive highlighted.

He stressed that although the province does not currently have any entity with requirements worthy of this category, support is provided to scientific and academic institutions as a way to achieve the established parameters.

The province also has the Center for Research and Rehabilitation of Hereditary Ataxias and Lázaro Peña Cigar Factory, with sustained scientific contributions to aspire in the coming years to that category.

Hernández said that the links between the Academy and business are also being strengthened, where the universities of Holguín Oscar Lucero Moya, of Medical Sciences and Doctor Antonio Núñez Jiménez University of Moa stand out.

High technology companies are organizations characterized by showing an intensive activity in innovation, as well as high technological standards, according to Decree 2/2020, of the Council of Ministers.

In addition, they close the cycle of research, development, innovation, production, commercialization of goods and services of high added value, with emphasis on the foreign market; and they constitute a way of connection and alignment of knowledge with production, both through their own results and knowledge from external sources.
