The Holguin Symphony Orchestra has announced via social media the upcoming edition of the iconic Symphonic Festival. A project marking its 10th anniversary this year.
The event will take place next Friday, October 9th, at 7:00 p.m. in Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Park, popularly known as San José Park. Under the artistic and general direction of Orestes Saavedra.

Students from the José María Ochoa Professional Music School and the Elementary School of the Arts will participate in this grand symphonic celebration. An event open to all residents of Holguin, demonstrating the high quality of arts education in the province.
Also this now-traditional event seeks to bring concert music to the heart of local communities. Offering a free-access space where audiences can experience the magic of orchestral arrangements live. While highlighting Holguin’s parks as ideal venues for concert music.
The Holguin Symphony Orchestra, distinguished as the youngest ensemble of its kind in Cuba. It was founded in 2000 by pianist and professor Cecilio Gómez.
Moreover the orchestra made its national debut three years after its founding during the concert celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Amadeo Roldán Auditorium Theater. Where it shared the stage with the renowned pianist—and fellow Holguin native—Frank Fernández.
Throughout its history, the Holguin Symphony has performed major works such as Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony and the *1812 Overture* by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Furthermore, the orchestra participates in all national symphony orchestra gatherings, where its work has garnered widespread praise. It has occasionally been conducted by distinguished musicians of national and international renown. Such as Leo Brouwer, Iván del Prado, María Elena Mendiola, the American Bernard Rubinstein, and the Mexican Guillermo Villarreal.
