Preparations Evaluated for Technical Intervention at Felton Thermoelectric Plant

The largest generating unit in Holguin province and a cornerstone of the National Electric System is gearing up. Joel Queipo Ruíz, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) in the province. He assessed the logistical conditions, resources, and preparations for upcoming corrective actions and technical improvements. At the Lidio Ramón Pérez Thermoelectric Power Plant, located in Felton, Mayari municipality.

During the working tour of the plant, local authorities meticulously checked critical routes and the condition of the generating unit. The main focus was on the boiler area, specifically near the dome of Unit 1. Also where a water and steam leak is currently occurring, requiring prompt intervention.

Regarding the work strategy, Víctor Hugo González Quiala, the industry’s technical director, explained that the maintenance and welding work will extend over several days. This schedule is based on the installation’s thermal requirements and the rigorous cooling processes. Necessary to safeguard the workers’ well-being and ensure the quality of the repairs.

Accompanied by Dagmar Abad Noa, First Secretary of the PCC in Mayari, and Lixán Hidalgo Romero, the municipal mayor. Queipo Ruíz inquired specifically about the occupational safety and health guarantees for the operators. As well as the organization of food services during the intense workdays ahead.

Following the planned shutdown of the block, specialists will carry out high-impact technical tasks. Including improvements to high-pressure heater number 1 and the inspection of other components critical to the plant’s stability. To avoid any delays in meeting deadlines, it was confirmed that all the necessary resources and supplies for carrying out the work are available within the plant itself.
