The Cuban Electric Union (UNE) reported via its social media that the National Electric System experienced outages throughout the 24 hours of August 4th. With a maximum interruption of 2,411 megawatts (MW) at 10:30 PM.
For August 5th, an estimated availability of 970 MW is projected against a peak demand of 3,150 MW. Representing a deficit of 2,180 MW and a projected outage of 2,210 MW.
Generation from photovoltaic solar parks reached 3,148 megawatt-hours (MWh). With a peak output of 490 MW at midday.
At 6:00 AM today, the National Interconnected System (SEN) had 970 MW of available capacity. Also with a demand of 2,815 MW and an outage of 1,840 MW. An outage of 1,700 MW is expected around midday.
Unit six of the Mariel Thermoelectric Power Plant, unit four of the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Thermoelectric Power Plant. Unit two of the Felton Thermoelectric Power Plant. And unit three of the Renté Thermoelectric Power Plant remain out of service.
Moreover Unit three of the Santa Cruz Thermoelectric Power Plant, unit five of the Nuevitas Thermoelectric Power Plant. And units five and six of the Renté Thermoelectric Power Plant are currently undergoing maintenance.
Limitations in thermal generation amount to 547 megawatts. According to the Ministry of Energy and Mines website.
