Holguin to Host Business Forum to Boost Investment and Territorial Development

The Business Forum for Territorial Development, “Holguin: Investment, Production Chains, and New Economic Actors.” It will be held on July 30th at the Pernik Hotel. With the participation of stakeholders from the province’s business and production sectors.

The initiative is convened by the Chamber of Commerce, the Provincial Government’s Directorate of Territorial Development. The Provincial Directorate of Foreign Trade and Investment (MINCEX). The Holguin Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR), and the Investment and Trade Platform for Latin America (PICLA).

Furthermore the event is part of the ongoing process of refining the Cuban economic model. It prioritizes the integration of endogenous resources with international cooperation opportunities. With the aim of strengthening local production capacity, substituting imports, and increasing exports.

During the event, the business model of PICLA (Dofimall), the China-Cuba Cooperation Platform that integrates e-commerce, logistics, and financing, will be present. It is designed as a channel to facilitate access to inputs and integration into international markets.

The program includes an opening panel on territorial development management and foreign trade. Presentations on logistics and digital commerce. As well as the demands of the tourism sector—with an emphasis on Palmares and Islazul. Considered a key driver for linking up with micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), cooperatives, and self-employed workers.

A workshop on requirements for foreign investment and trade with China will also held. Along with a multi-sector business matchmaking event aimed at establishing connections between local suppliers and potential investors.

The Forum seeks to foster dialogue among state, private, and foreign actors. Identify investment opportunities, and promote production linkages in sectors such as textiles, footwear, processed foods, and construction.
