Academy of Handicrafts Promotes Training with Recycled Materials in Holguin

The use of recycled materials is the central focus of training artisans at the Ana Betancourt Academy of Handicrafts in Holguin. A sustainable alternative that fosters creativity and the use of resources as an economic opportunity.

Hilda Isabela Avilés Sánchez, a retiree over 60 years old, finds in the academy a space for constant growth. Also where the use of these materials allows her to innovate in the creation of items for babies, one of the most in-demand lines of her work.

As part of the training process, the artisans donate pieces made during the course to daycare centers, nursing homes, and children’s homes. Reinforcing the institution’s social impact.
