The first electrical transformers destined to replace damaged equipment in the province of Holguin have begun arriving. As part of the efforts by the National Electric Union (UNE) to reduce service interruptions in several communities. On Monday, 19 transformers were received, out of a total of 37 allocated to the province. The remaining equipment is currently being transported and should be incorporated in the coming days, according to the same source.
The new transformers will be distributed among the municipalities of Holguin, Mayari, Baguanos, and Banes. Prioritizing those areas that have experienced the longest periods without power, according to the existing record of outages.
Currently, the province reports 45 transformers out of service. Directly impacting the same number of neighborhoods. Before installation, the received equipment will undergo technical testing at a specialized workshop to ensure its proper functioning.
At the same time, nine 19,100-volt transformers remain without immediate repair at this stage. These will be transported to the “Latino” Transformer Factory in Havana. Also where their repair process is expected to begin next week.
The Holguin Electric Company clarified that the replacement of this equipment will not represent any cost to the population. As both the replacement and installation are covered by the company and the National Electric Union.
