The U.S. State Department published a report this Monday describing Cuba as a threat that has fostered left-wing extremism. Built a network of espionage and influence to undermine U.S. interests.
Apparently, the report, which throughout its 64 pages stirs up the specter of communism and seeks to instill a negative public opinion. It is a consequence of the anti-leftist meeting convened in Washington by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. In which representatives from at least 66 nations participated last week.
The report, titled “Cuba: The Capital of 21st-Century Communism.” It makes unfounded claims such as that “for nearly seven decades, the Cuban regime has carried out a sustained campaign of subversion against the United States.” In which would connect some of the country’s internal conflicts with alleged Cuban influence.
Omissions and double standards abound in the document. There is no mention of the history of terrorism and hostility against Cuba from the United States. Which are part of a long list of plans aimed at regime change.
The publication of the document comes amid growing tensions between Washington and Havana. Including the threat of military aggression and unilateral coercive measures that seek to economically strangle and collapse the island nation. Subjected to a tight blockade for more than six decades.
The unilateral embargo imposed by the United States government was reinforced in January. With an executive order from President Donald Trump that established an oil blockade. Depriving the island of its fuel supplies for more than six months.
