In a day marked by emotion and a strong sense of patriotism and academic commitment. The University of Holguin (UHo) celebrated the presentation of the Rector’s Awards. An event dedicated to recognizing the faculty, staff, and support personnel who have become essential pillars of Higher Education during the current academic year.
The central courtyard of the academic institution was adorned for the occasion. To honor the efforts of those who, from various perspectives, ensure the continuity and quality of the teaching and learning process. Demonstrating that recognizing merit is also an essential way for society to grow.
Moreover the highlight of the event was the conferral of the prestigious title of Professor Emeritus upon Dr. Clara Elena Marrero Fornaris. This honor celebrates a life dedicated to teaching, her undeniable academic and scientific prestige. And her indelible mark on the training of new generations of professionals at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The recognition of Dr. Marrero Fornaris acknowledges her unwavering commitment to Cuban Higher Education. Her selfless dedication to the production of scientific knowledge in the region.
In her keynote address, the Rector of the University of Holguin, Dr. Aniuska Ortiz Pérez, emphasized the value of the university’s human capital in a complex context, yet one filled with daily victories.
“We have completed a course full of challenges. But one in which we continue to champion unity and teamwork. Keeping in mind the common good and the value of virtue,” the Rector emphasized. Invoking Martí’s precept that guides the work of revolutionary intellectuals.
The moving gathering reaffirmed that, despite the country’s economic and social challenges. The University of Holguin remains at the forefront of the comprehensive training of future professionals. Supported by a faculty and support staff who make teaching their most cherished mission.
