Donation from Mexico and Belize Arrives in Cuba

The commercial vessel Asian Katra arrived this Sunday at the port of Havana, in the Regla municipality, with a donation from Mexico and Belize.

The shipment, consisting of food and other essential supplies. It totals 1,700 tons and is intended to alleviate the difficulties faced by the Cuban population.

Solidarity organizations with the island, Cuban residents in both countries. A call to action from the newspaper La Jornada, among other actors. Helped to manage, organize, and assemble the donation.

Also this demonstration of cooperation and solidarity from the governments and people of Mexico and Belize. It adds to other expressions of support received by the Caribbean nation during 2026.

Regarding this gesture of solidarity, the Minister of Domestic Trade, Betsy Díaz, highlighted Mexico’s unconditional and historic support. And thanked the authorities, prominent figures, and organizations of both nations. That have expressed their support for the island.

The Minister specified that the Ministry of Domestic Trade is responsible for receiving, transporting, and distributing this aid. She explained that, despite the slowdown in some processes caused by the impact of the energy blockade. Also non-state economic actors and alternative transportation methods have been incorporated. To deliver the resources to the population as quickly as possible.

Furthermore the solidarity cooperation between Mexico and Belize is part of a tradition of mutual support that strengthens the historical and cultural ties with Cuba. Both countries have repeatedly expressed their rejection of the economic blockade imposed by Washington. Furthermore they have chosen to build humanitarian bridges instead of joining isolationist policies.

Every donation that arrives at Cuban ports represents not only material relief for families. Also an unequivocal message that the island is not alone. Amid growing external pressures, international solidarity stands as a pillar of resistance and hope for the Cuban people.
