The event commemorates the landing of the Genoese admiral Christopher Columbus at Cayo Bariay on the island of Cuba, on October 28th, 1492. Marking the encounter between the cultures of the New and Old Worlds. It will also serve as the official launch for the next edition of the festival.

The day’s program also features trova, jam sessions, concerts, meetings with students from arts schools. Also poetry readings, an arts and crafts fair, among other offerings.

A highlight of the festival was the presentation of the album “Tenderness Is Not Enough: Singing to Roque Dalton”) by trovadour Fernando Cabreja. The album features 11 poems by the Salvadoran writer, set to music.

Released under the Colibri label, part of the Cuban Institute of Music and supported by the Cuban Ministry of Culture. The album includes arrangements and musical direction by Yasel Muñoz Álvarez. Executive production by Enrique Carballea (who has previously worked with Silvio Rodríguez and Santiago Feliú), and liner notes by writer Ronel González Sánchez.

As for the Ibero-American Congress of Thought, notable sessions included forums and lectures on arts education, albinism, and the ancient civilizations of the region.

Dedicated to arts education, the Ibero-American Culture Festival now in its 32nd edition, brings together delegates from nine countries. It serves as a platform for fostering new talent. As well as preserving Ibero-American customs that endure to this day.
