The University of Holguin (UHo), recognized as a leading institution of excellence in Cuba. It is strengthening its international ties with universities in Mexico, Colombia, Spain, Ecuador, Brazil, and Romania. Thereby enhancing its prestige and academic and research quality.
Jenny Ruiz de la Peña, Director of International Relations at the university. She explained to the Cuban News Agency (CNA) that the institution maintains more than 230 active agreements with global academies and research centers. Which enrich the training of students and faculty and increase its social impact.
Among the institutions with which it collaborates are the University of Málaga in Spain. Nicolaus Copernicus University in Poland; and Varna University of Management in Bulgaria.
As part of its internationalization strategy, UHo has positioned itself as a leader by joining dozens of research groups and networks. Including the Ibero-American University Association for Postgraduate Studies and the La Rábida Group of Ibero-American Universities.
Ruiz de la Peña explained that the institution has several mobility projects with terms of reference. Coordinated by the center itself, ten of which are linked to the Erasmus+ Program, which promotes cultural exchange.
The director noted that progress is also being made in consolidating and diversifying experiences. Such as service exports, research stays, events, and official missions. While some 25 scholarship recipients are pursuing postgraduate and doctoral programs.
By opening the doors of academia to the world, cultural diversity and intercultural learning are promoted. Preparing students for the challenges of a globalized job market, she commented.
Since 2014, the University of Holguin has integrated the Oscar Lucero Moya and Celia Sánchez Manduley teaching campuses. The José de la Luz y Caballero Pedagogical Institute, the Manuel Fajardo Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports. As well as ten municipal centers and two branch campuses.
