Holguin doctor awarded with the National Pedagogy Prize 2025

The Board of Directors of the Cuban Association of Pedagogues (APC) agreed to award the prestigious Dr. Justo Alberto Chávez Rodríguez National Prize 2025. To renowned educator and Holguin native, Dr. Aurora García Gutiérrez, a full professor at the University of Holguin (UHo).

This prestigious award is a direct recognition of her valuable, sustained, and rigorous theoretical, methodological, and practical contributions. To the development of Educational Sciences on the island. Directly impacting the quality of teaching and the training of researchers in the region.

Born in the municipality of Cueto and a 1982 graduate specializing in Pedagogy-Psychology. Dr. Aurora García has forged an impeccable scientific career. Over the decades, she has established herself as an undisputed leader within the Holguin and Cuban academic community.
Her impeccable scientific career is distinguished by strong leadership in academia and prolific work in training future generations. Having mentored dozens of new PhDs and Master’s degree holders in Pedagogical Sciences and Educational Management.

As a member of the Scientific Council of the University of Holguin (UHo) and coordinator of the Honorary Chair in Gender, Family, Health in Society. Dr. Aurora has consolidated a rigorous line of research in the Social Sciences. Her contributions are now fundamental references in such sensitive fields. As educational guidance, gender studies, family harmony, and the development of pedagogical skills.

The award, named after the unforgettable and indispensable Cuban educator Justo Chávez Rodríguez. It recognizes not only intellectual brilliance but also García Gutiérrez’s unwavering ethical commitment to social transformation through the classroom and research.
