University Admissions to Begin on June 8th

University admissions to majors and advanced technical programs in Cuba will begin on June 8th. Following modifications to the procedure due to the complex energy situation facing the country.

According to officials from the Ministries of Education and Higher Education. The admissions process, which this year will exceptionally be based solely on the academic index obtained in pre-university studies. It began on May 20th with the validation of application forms.

The first round of admissions will conclude on June 12th. A second round will be held from June 15th to 19th for those who did not receive admission to any of their initial choices. From June 22nd to 26th, students who wish to enroll but have not yet submitted an application can complete and submit their forms.

Finally, from June 28th to July 2nd, a third round of admissions will be held for any remaining places. Authorities reiterated that a place is guaranteed for all applicants wishing to access higher education.

This year, more than 47,500 places are also being offered in blended learning and distance education programs.
More than 4,000 places have already been awarded directly to students who won competitions. Coming from university colleges and other access routes.

As reported on May 19th, entrance exams for higher education will not be held this academic year due to the current situation. Marked by the enormous difficulties caused by the aggressive policies of the United States government.

Authorities reaffirmed that the admissions system maintains the principles of rigor, transparency, and best interests. That have historically characterized access to higher education in Cuba.
