Cuban President Joins the People in Rally of Support for Raúl

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel led a rally today at the José Martí Anti-Imperialist Tribune. Also where the people of Havana rejected the U.S. Department of Justice’s indictment of the leader of the Revolution, Raúl Castro Ruz.

The rally was held in support of Army General Raúl Castro Ruz. Leader of the Revolution, in response to the recent accusations by the U.S. government.

Also the event, organized by the Union of Young Communists (UJC), mass organizations, student groups, and youth movements. It brought together thousands of Havana residents as part of the celebrations for Raúl Castro’s 95th birthday.

Furthermore  in attendance were the President of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo. Prime Minister Manuel Marrero; the Secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba, Roberto Morales. And the Commander of the Rebel Army, José Ramón Machado.

“We are called together by the dignity of Cuba, the right to our autonomy, and the honor of being a generation formed under the legacy of Fidel and Raúl.” Declared Meyvis Estévez, First Secretary of the Young Communist League (UJC), to the press.

The youth leader emphasized that the mobilization seeks to denounce the “infamous accusation” against the Army General. As well as the energy embargo and blockade imposed by Washington. “We defend the Revolution, socialism, and this homeland,” he affirmed.

In response to the U.S. pronouncement against the Army General on May 20th. The revolutionary government issued a statement indicating that such an accusation is a political provocation, based on the manipulation of what occurred in February 1996. When two aircraft operated by the terrorist organization Brothers to the Rescue were shot down after repeated notifications regarding their violation of Cuban airspace.
