On the 131st anniversary of the death of the National Hero in Dos Ríos.The 4th Annual “Martí in Holguin” Commemoration concluded in Holguin.
At José Martí Park in the provincial capital, the highest authorities of the province and students gathered to close the events honoring the Maestro. Which included artistic performances, workshops, film screenings, book presentations. For the first time, a scientific workshop demonstrating the enduring relevance of his legacy.
During this closing ceremony, which was attended by Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee and first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba in Holguin. A special recognition was given to the new generations responsible for keeping the Apostle’s words alive.
In this context, the outstanding participants of the 26th edition of the “Reading Martí” contest were recognize. A true celebration of intellect and emotion in the province. As a result, 27 students received the provincial award and four won the national prize.
Later, in his closing remarks, Héctor Niles Ávalos, president of the José Martí Cultural Society. He expressed his deep gratitude to all the institutions involved in this initiative. Which he described as an example of love and fidelity to Martí’s legacy. Also he emphasized that as long as there are young people willing to read and think with Martí. The Apostle’s work will remain alive in every corner of Cuba.
With the announcement of the 5th annual “Day of Affection” celebration Holguin concluded this event. Also which reaffirmed that the thought of the National Hero is not an echo of the past. It is a flame burning brightly in the present, capable of guiding the future of Cubans.
