The Industriales Lions knocked out the Holguin Cubs 16-2 on Thursday at their home stadium, Calixto García. Solidifying their position atop the Cuban Baseball League’s IV Elite League.
Guillermo Carmona’s Lions continued their winning streak in the City of Parks with their fifth consecutive victory. Their third on home soil bringing their total to eight in the tournament. And extending their lead to two games over Artemisa and Las Tunas, who are tied for second place.
A lethal seven-run rally in the first inning proved too much for the Cubs. So who have been unable to capitalize on their offense in front of their home crowd. They have dropped from first to fourth place in the standings in just three games.
For the Havana team, Yoangel La O and Jonathan Bridón hit grand slams. Yaser Julio González added two home runs, bringing his season total to six and making him the league leader.
