A traffic accident that occurred Thursday afternoon at kilometer 291 of the National Highway. In the section corresponding to the municipality of Placetas, left two people dead and one critically injured.
The vehicle involved in the accident is a Willys Jeep, license plate P 204139.
Among the deceased is Doelmis Roche Cuenca, 51, a resident of Moa. While the second victim has not yet been identified.
Also the survivor, Migdalia Miranda Hernández, also 51 and from Moa, Holguin. She is receiving urgent medical attention at the Daniel Codorniú Pruna General Teaching Hospital.
Dr. Víctor Manuel Cabrera Díaz, municipal director of Health in Placetas. He explained that medical teams are focusing their efforts on stabilizing the injured patient.
He noted that every available resource has been deployed to ensure care. And highlighted the dedication of the healthcare staff in a highly stressful environment.
Moreover he also stated that this type of accident underscores the urgent need to exercise extreme caution while driving. Especially on complex stretches of road.
There were Yaima Ángel, First Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee. Natasha Padilla, President of the Municipal Assembly of People’s Power. And Yoandy Ramírez, the municipal mayor, visited the health center.
The Ministry of the Interior is investigating the causes of the accident.
