The Language of the Body Captivates on International Dance Day

The “City of Parks” was transformed into a vibrant stage to celebrate International Dance Day. The commemoration, established every April 29th since 1982 by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI). An organization associated with UNESCO—found a vibrant echo of talent and tradition in Holguin.

It is important to highlight that the central objective of this event is to honor dance as a universal and diverse art form. In this sense, the celebration seeks to bring together all those who have chosen movement. As a form of expression that transcends cultural, political, and ethical barriers.

As part of the festivities, the public space in front of the emblematic Eddy Suñol Cultural Complex became the epicenter of the celebration. The artistic presentation stood out for its high aesthetic rigor. Featuring essential figures from our cultural heritage.

The audience enjoyed the elegance and technique of the soloists and the Ballet of the Rodrigo Prats Lyric Theater. Meanwhile, the power of contemporary creation and cultural roots represented the prestigious companies Codanza and the Folkloric La Campana.

In addition to the local professional groups, the day was enriched by the participation of student avant-garde dancers. Intermediate-level students from the “Alfredo Velázquez Carcassés” School. From the neighboring province of Guantanamo, demonstrated that the future of this art form is guaranteed in eastern Cuba.
