President of Cuba attends of the IV International Colloquium Patria

The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, participated today in the inauguration of the IV edition of the Patria International Colloquium. In which some 400 national and foreign delegates from 47 countries participate.

With the precept “We are peoples weaving networks”, the event that takes place at the University of Havana. Will discuss the use of digital content and platforms as tools for social mobilization, political participation and configuration of power.

Conferences, theoretical workshops and exhibition fairs make up the program of the event. Dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of the multi-state channel Telesur, founded by Fidel Castro and Hugo Chávez. And the 40th anniversary of the Faculty of Communication of the University of Havana.

Sponsored by the Union of Journalists of Cuba and with the collaboration of Casa de las Américas and the Hermanos Saíz Association, the Patria Colloquium offers communicators, academics, politicians, activists and interested citizens a space to reflect on the opportunities and challenges of technopolitics.

Guests will discuss topics such as the role of technology in popular resistance and social emancipation, disinformation and digital manipulation, cognitive warfare, social networks, technopolitics, digital education, artificial intelligence and digital sovereignty.

Successful communication projects and experiences of technologies from the global South will also be presented.

The IV International Colloquium Patria will end on March 19.
This forum has been held since 2022, in the context of the Day of the Cuban Press. Also it pays tribute to the newspaper founded by National Hero José Martí in 1892 to spread libertarian ideas and unite Cubans around the need for independence from the Spanish metropolis.
