In order to mobilize the new generations as heirs of the Mambi legacy, the delivery of the replica of the machete of Major General Antonio Maceo Grajales took place in Holguin.

The welcoming ceremony, which brought together pioneers and young people of the territory at the monument dedicated to the Bronze Titan, was a propitious space to reaffirm their commitment to the ideals of independence and resistance that have characterized the Cuban people throughout its history.

In the presence of Joel Queipo Ruiz, member of the Central Committee and First Secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, as well as other local authorities and representatives of youth organizations, the importance of keeping historical memory alive and their willingness to be bearers of those values in todays Cuba was highlighted.

Of special symbolism was the delivery, from the hands of the first secretary of the Union of Young Communists in Granma, Yaritza Jerez Cabrera, to the provincial secretary of the organization in Holguin, Elisbel Durán Borroto, of the replica of the machete, as an emblem of struggle, dignity and social responsibility.

In his speech, Durán Borroto said that the machete symbolizes ideas, culture and unity, as a sign that young people are the generation that builds and defends the Revolution from different fronts.

The event also included artistic presentations and solemn moments that not only honored Antonio Maceo, but also represent a call for unity and constant struggle for a dignified and independent future for Cuba.
