Relevant health and production contributions were made by students of the University of Medical Sciences of Holguin during the summer period as a result of the activation of the called University Guerrillas March 13th.
From July 20 to August 20, more than 2,260 students of different years were mainly involved in activities of prevention and control of arbovirosis, a complex sanitary issue in the province.
Statistics provided by the Federation of University Students (FEU) of this House of Higher Education show that 38,459 homes and 65,480 patients were checked in communities throughout the province.
Likewise, health actions included the maternal and infant program in the area of Alcides Pino, as well as different health promotions for women, children and the elderly.
The work of several members of the Young Communist League in the planting of trees in the Plaza de la Revolución Mayor General Calixto García Íñiguez and the fulfillment of agricultural tasks in the Valle 2 production pole, in the municipality of Mayarí, where several tasks were carried out to favor food production, were also praiseworthy.
The University of Medical Sciences of Holguin, founded in 2009, has graduated more than 37,700 students, including more than 2,600 from 69 countries.
