Breastfeeding, a food with a special bond between mother and child

In this sense, the Master in Comprehensive Child Care also said that the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF recommend that children begin breastfeeding in the first minutes after birth, a principle that is applied from the delivery room when maternal and neonatal care is performed. This ensures early attachment. Breast milk is the ideal food that a mother can offer her newborn baby because it contains the necessary nutrients for optimal growth and development.

From August 1 to 7, in different health centers in the province, such as the March 8 Maternity Home, the provincial maternity hospital, polyclinics and doctor’s offices, educational talks, lectures, conferences and meetings with specialists were held on the advantages of breastfeeding babies naturally.

Health promotion actions were also carried out in the communities through the recognition of families that have applied exclusive breastfeeding during the first six months of life and family doctors and nurses offered educational talks to pregnant women, family members and the general population on the need to rescue breastfeeding and apply it in the right way.

Likewise, the Head of the Provincial Neonatology Group insisted that the first breastfeeding brings great benefits to the mother and the baby. It generates more sensitive and safe responses. Breast milk is the natural and ideal food for newborns and infants. Its nutritional characteristics allow the harmonious growth of the child and the prevention of diseases, especially diarrhea. Hence this day This day served to continue the preparation of Cuban professionals, parents and families, empowering them to offer their children the best possible start in life, she concluded.

This practice is the basis for lifelong good health for both mothers and children. It is necessary to understand the important role we all play in ensuring the growth, development and survival of the youngest members of the household.
